It all started when…
A cottage along the Great Ocean Road with Nordic style
The property was always a humble retreat we could briefly escape the day to day pressures of City life. Maria Bortolotto former owner and director of Cecconi’s Flinders Lane and Don Bennett master craftsman in timber.
Initially a tent (on a slope) with Lobo the Deerhound, what a joy. We watched, we thought, we reflected. Our response? The cabin evolved as did our garden evolve.
From humble retreat to sophisticated cabin, was evident in how we used the property.
The Cabin Lorne now a sophisticated retreat with all the comforts you may desire.
With an all-white palette then introducing warmth and interest through timber furniture, ceramics and textiles.
"We wanted to achieve an effortless yet stylish Nordic aesthetic — the furnishings were chosen to bring modern comfort to the rural setting.
The Cabin is a hand built, open plan and fully self-contained space that sleeps two. It features a stylish timeless interior with many quality design pieces and is perfect for a serene getaway.
The property has beautiful gentle slopes that lead into deep tree fern gullies and over the next 20 years we developed an extensive landscape of European and Australian native plants, shrubs and trees, which is ever changing with the seasons.
We hope that others will get as much enjoyment out of experiencing The Cabin Lorne as we have had creating this special place.
